Update as of March 24, 2020

Dear Church Family,

Due to the spread of COVID-19, we are moving all weekend gatherings to an online format. We will be gathering online Saturday at 6:00pm and Sunday at 9:00am and 11:00am. We hope you will join us on Facebook or calvarypsl.com for worship, prayer, and our Bible study through the book of Acts. We will go live 15 minutes before each gathering for a fun time of encouragement and interaction. Invite your family and friends!

While our church building may be closed, that doesn’t mean ministry is closed. Here are some creative ways that we’re staying active as the body of Christ:

LOCAL OUTREACH: We are partnering with Boys and Girls Club, Treasure Coast Food Bank, and GraceWay Village to serve those in our community who need meals. You can volunteer or donate to help support these organizations. Click on the links for more information.

KID’S MINISTRY: We will be broadcasting a kid-friendly worship experience on our Calvary PSL Facebook page Sundays at 10:15am.  You can also stay connected with us through our CalvaryKids Facebook page. For more information, contact Ethan Jones at ejones@calvarypsl.org.

CALVARY GROUPS: We are encouraging Calvary Groups to meet via video conference. For more information, contact Mike Lawrence at mlawrence@calvarypsl.org

YOUNG ADULTS: Please follow Calvary Young Adults on Instagram for ways to stay connected with our Young Adults Ministry. For more information, contact Aaron Hodson at ahodson@calvarypsl.org.

CALVARY STUDENTS: Please follow Calvary Students on Instagram for the latest updates on Student Ministry. For more information, contact Andrew Sterken at asterken@calvarypsl.org.

GIVING ONLINE: We believe giving is an act of worship and a response to the generosity of our awesome God! To continue in your faithfulness, please go to calvarypsl.com/give or text the phrase “calvarypsl” to the number 77977. You can also send cash or check by mail to 5555 NW St James Dr, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983.

We will continue to monitor the situation daily. Please continue to follow us via our website, social media, and email for ongoing updates. Most importantly, PRAY. Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

We love you!

Update as of March 17, 2020

Dear Calvary PSL Family,

After careful consideration, we have decided to cancel our 3 weekend gatherings and move to one online worship experience.  Sunday (March 22) we will go live at 11am. We hope you will join us on Facebook or calvarypsl.com for worship, prayer, and Bible teaching.

We have been tracking the news about COVID-19 and its effects. This virus has now turned into a pandemic and Governor Ron DeSantis has strongly recommended that all mass gatherings in our state be postponed. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has asked that the state of Florida cancel all gatherings of 10 or more. In addition, all Treasure Coast public schools have closed through March 27. We feel there is wisdom in complying with the guidelines of the governor and CDC, in order to keep our church family and community safe.

As those who trust in God, we do not walk in fear, but we do want to walk in love and wisdom. As we seek to lead in this way, we have decided to take the following steps:

ONLINE ONLY: On Sunday, March 22, at 11:00am, we hope you will join us for a wonderful time of worship, prayer, and teaching! If you normally attend our Saturday evening gathering, we encourage you to tune into our online experience this Sunday. This online experience will be available on our website and Facebook after the initial streaming. Invite your family and friends to view these online experiences as well.

CONTINUING IN ACTS: After addressing the current Coronavirus issue, Pastor Mike will continue our verse-by-verse study in Acts 24. Prayerfully read ahead and prepare your heart for what God may want to do in your life!

KID’S MINISTRY: Even though our Kid’s Ministry will not be available during the next two weekends, we encourage families to stay plugged in with us through our CalvaryKids Facebook page.

CALVARY GROUPS: Calvary Groups will not be physically gathering at this time. We are encouraging groups to meet via video conference instead.

YOUNG ADULTS / STUDENTS: In an abundance of caution, we have decided to cancel Young Adults and Students through March 25. We will continue to monitor the situation and update you about future gatherings.

GIVING ONLINE: We believe giving is an act of worship and a response to the generosity of our awesome God! To continue in your faithfulness, please go to calvarypsl.com/give or text the phrase “calvarypsl” to the number 77977. Thank you!

We will continue to monitor the situation daily. Please continue to follow us via our website, social media, and email for ongoing updates. Most importantly, PRAY. Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

We can’t wait to worship with you online this Sunday at 11:00am!

Update as of March 13, 2020

We’re off to a great start in 2020, and we are celebrating all that God has been doing as we strive to help people of all ages become lifelong followers of Christ. In the midst of all that God is doing, our church leadership has also been carefully monitoring COVID-19 (Coronavirus). We trust the Lord and do not fear and we want to walk in wisdom.

Listed below are the precautions we are taking in order to maintain the health and safety of our congregation and staff. Please carefully read the bullet points under each of the 3 sections below.

Facilities Plans and Preparedness:

  • We have communicated to our volunteer teams that we will be waving at our entrance doors rather than shaking hands.
  • We have 62% alcohol-based hand sanitizer stations at all entrances.
  • We will be implementing extra cleanings in all of our facilities, and our staff will be using sanitizer to wipe down shared surfaces before and after each gathering.
  • We will be implementing these additional sanitization measures in CalvaryKids, including wiping down all surfaces such as play areas and toys. We will also not be serving any snacks to help in preventing the potential spread of germs.
  • We will not be passing offering buckets during our weekend gatherings. We have offering boxes in the worship center where you can drop your tithe. You can also give online at calvarypsl.com/give, or text the phrase “calvarypsl” to the number 77977.
  • We highly encourage you to stay home if you’re not feeling well. All of our weekend gatherings will be broadcasted live and we invite you to join us at calvarypsl.churchonline.org.

Playing Your Part in Keeping Our Church and Community Safe:

  • Please stay home if you or your children are experiencing any flu-like symptoms. Symptoms to watch for include: fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, aches, headache, or fatigue.
  • If you are in the “high risk” category, please stay home. As guided by the CDC, older adults and people who have serious chronic medical conditions, like heart disease, diabetes, or lung disease, should take extra actions to reduce their risk.
  • Avoid close contact with people whom you suspect might be sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Maintain proper hygiene by thoroughly washing your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces in your home using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s guidelines for using a facemask. The CDC does not recommend that healthy people need to wear masks to prevent contracting Coronavirus, but rather should only be worn by those showing symptoms in order to prevent the spread of their germs. A shortage of facemasks could be critical for public health professionals, so it is advised to avoid purchasing facemasks if you do not meet the CDC’s criteria for needing one.
  • If you have traveled to any of the countries where there are outbreaks of the virus, please follow immediate guidance from the CDC

Our Spiritual Response:

As Christians we should always trust God and not walk in fear. We should also walk in wisdom and make the necessary preparations.

This is an opportunity for us to intercede on behalf of our community, our country, and our world. As the Lord leads, pray for friends, loved ones, and medical professionals. Pray for those who are most vulnerable to the virus, and for those directly affected by it already. Pray for the authorities who carry the burden of responding on local, national, and worldwide levels.

As this pandemic continues to cause anxiety and uncertainty, we pray that the Gospel would go forth and many would be saved.  The Lord often uses times of hardship to bring many to faith.

“God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
