Prayer Ministry

The Prayer Ministry exists for the purpose of saturating all aspects of the church and its members with prayer, so that the Lord can work supernaturally through the church to make Christian disciples of all people.

FAQs

What does the Prayer Ministry Team do?
The Team provides group Intercessory Prayer during church services and special events. Prayer Counselors are present before and after each service to pray with individuals one-on-one. The Email Prayer Network receives and distributes prayer requests for the specific needs of those who call Calvary
their church home and their immediate family members.

What qualifications or skills do I need to join the Prayer Ministry?
Individuals serving in the Prayer Ministry need to have a love for God and for His people. He or she also needs to have a passion for prayer which is grounded in the belief that God desires to hear and answer prayer with His miraculous power. This individual is guided in prayer by the Holy Spirit and prays according to the Scriptures. A servant's heart is needed; as well as the ability to listen, empathize and relate well with people, "bearing one another's burdens."

Where do I begin serving in the Prayer Ministry?
A Prayer Ministry Partner typically joins the foundation of the ministry as an Intercessor. After approximately 6 months, you will meet with Pastor Teddy
or the Prayer Ministry Coordinator to determine if the Prayer Ministry is a good fit for you, and if there are other aspects of the Prayer Ministry where your gifts could be used.

How much time will being an Intercessor require?
Intercessors attend one church service per week and pray during a second service. There will be a quarterly Prayer Team meeting; and, as our church grows, other opportunities for prayer during special events will develop.

Do I have to pray out loud?
As an Intercessor, praying out loud is voluntary. Simply lending your support in silent agreement is fine.

How will I know what to pray?
An Intercessory Prayer Request sheet is provided for use as the Spirit leads. It lists those requests currently on the Email Prayer Network, and also those from the Ministry Leaders and Coordinators. The sheet can be used as a reference during prayer sessions, and taken home to be prayed over throughout the week.
